September 2015, my life was completely changed, and a downward spiral was just beginning. We found out on Thanksgiving Day 2015 my wife had stage 4 lung cancer. My mind said there was absolutely no way.
As the test began, it was confirmed. The doctor said that the type she had was very aggressive and she might have been 3-5 years. Multiple rounds of chemo, 6 double, 6 singles. After 1 round of double, scans showed reduced tumors and several completely gone. Things seemed to be headed in right direction.
May, June & July were great. August the signs of things changing for what was to come. On the weekend of labor day she began to struggle to breath, so on Tuesday I took her to the doctor, and he had transferred her to UK hospital.
Shortly after arrival, they informed me her lung was metastasized and things did not look good. Friday night at 11:09 p.m. she passed.
After the funeral service and weeks going forward it seemed the world had stopped and did not know what to do or how to handle it. Suicide seemed to be a way to stop the hurt, anger and everything else that I was feeling.
Then the voice of my grandson spoke to me. I started Celebrate Recovery at request of a friend, not knowing what it was, but as it turned out it was for me. Today life is good and fully blessed.
